Printer Installation and X25AM Configuration
Considerations
Although the printer installation and X25AM configuration tasks are outside the scope
of this manual, special consideration should be given to the following aspects of these
tasks:
PAD considerations
X25AM line configuration
X25AM subdevice configuration
PAD Considerations
The printer should be connected to a suitable PAD on the X.25 network of your choice.
Any X.25 network supported by X25AM can be used. The PAD can be either a real
hardware PAD to which printers and terminals are connected or it can be a program
running in another host system. Note the following additional PAD considerations:
FASTPX25 communicates with the printer using an X25AM subdevice (SU). This
subdevice can be configured in X25AM with PROTOCOL and DEVTYPE values of
either PTP (9,0) or ITI (6,0). The exact choice is dictated by the type of PAD in use
as described in
X25AM Subdevice Configuration Considerations
below.
The flow control between the PAD and the printer must be set according to the
capabilities of both units. Typical options are XON/XOFF, DTR, and CTS.
X25AM Line Configuration Considerations
The X25AM line should be configured in accordance with the requirements of the X.25
network to which it is connected. Consult the following manuals for details of how to
configure X.25 lines:

(for D-series systems)
