Installation and Configuration Tasks for FASTPNOV
Installation and Configuration Tasks for
FASTPNOV
To install and configure a FASTPNOV print process, perform the following tasks:
1. Install the FASTPNOV object code ($SYSTEM.SYSTEM.FASTPNOV) This step is
described in
Installing a FASTP Network Print Process
on page 2-2.
2. Add the following configuration information to the Spooler subsystem either
interactively or in a command file:
a. Create one or more FASTPNOV print processes using the Spoolcom PRINT
command. Creation of a print process is described in step
2
of
Spooler
Configuration Tasks
on page 2-14.
b. Associate each device name (that is, the device name designated for a
NetWare print queue) with the appropriate FASTPNOV print process and
specify the appropriate spooler device attributes for each device using the
Spoolcom DEV command.
A FASTPNOV print process supports a maximum of 32 NetWare print queues.
An IPXPROTO process supports a maximum of 8 print processes (256
NetWare print queues).
General use of the DEV command is described in step
3
of
Spooler
Configuration Tasks
on page 2-14. The specification of Spooler device names
and device attributes for NetWare print queues are discussed in
Spooler
Configuration Considerations for FASTPNOV
on page 5-4.
c.
Designate one or more spooler job locations for each NetWare print queue and
associate each one with the appropriate device name using the Spoolcom LOC
command. Designation of a spooler job location is described in step
4
of
Spooler Configuration Tasks
on page 2-14.
3. Create a FASTCNFG file to contain network protocol and transport parameters for
the devices. The creation of a FASTCNFG file is discussed in general terms in
Configuring a FASTCNFG File
on page 2-17. FASTCNFG DEVICE attributes for
NetWare print queues are discussed in
FASTCNFG DEVICE Configuration for
FASTPNOV
on page 5-6.
