3.7.2 Machine
Coding
EPM automatic soldering machines can be equipped with various different coding systems.
If a machine coding system is used, the machine parameters stored under the code num-
bers are invoked from the data store when the soldering carrier or the PCB enters and
communicated to the machine for execution. The display unit displays the parameters and
all the processes taking place.
3.7.2.1 No
Coding
If no coding system is being used, the carriers are fed separately in succession into the sol-
dering machine. The carrier distance is adjustable. 60 board programs can be stored and
invoked manually via the controller. Manual codes can also be invoked via the MIS inter-
face (Chapter 5).
3.7.2.2
Binary Coding (Option)
The code is put as 8-bit serial information on the coding card mounted on the soldering car-
rier. The information is read with an optical two-canal reader and is available to the ma-
chine controller as parallel information for further processing.
It is possible to code and program 60 saved PCB programs (Code 63=read error).

3.7.2.3 Barcoding
(Option)
The barcode scanner picks up the barcode that has been put on the PCB or on the solder-
ing carrier and makes it available to the machine controller for further processing. The
scanner can be set in accordance with the different code types. 999 stored board programs
can be coded and programmed.
