8.4 Coding
8.4.1.1 Checking the Bar Code Label
During the production process, check the
bar code regularly for dirtying and wear, if
required, replace it.
There must be a white area on the left-hand
side and the right-hand side of the barcode
on the barcode label. Please see the specifi-
cations of your barcode type for the dimen-
sion X.
8.4.1.2 Cleaning the Barcode Reader
Clean the barcode reader with solvent-free
cleaner. The transparent plastic or glass
cover of the read unit must be cleaned with
a fine cloth only.
8.4.1.3 Checking the Lock Coils of the Barcode Reader
Check the lock coils for proper functioning.
The pressure strips must not be bent or
dirty. Care must be taken that the pressure
strips do not scrape on the chain.
Check the retaining springs below for dirty-
ing and if required, clean them.
8.4.1.4 Binary Coding
Check all the binary coding cards on the
carrier for dirtying and warping and if re-
quired, clean or replace them. Check the
lock coils on the left-hand side and right-
hand side. The lock coils must be at a 90-
degree angle to the carrier. When the mag-
net is actuated, the finger of the carrier
must not touch the lock coil. Check the read
cell; it must facilitate contact-free running of
the binary coding card - if required, adjust it.
