Extraction Process
Before starting an extraction, perform the following steps. Refer to Chapter 3 for
detailed instructions for each step.
_
Prepare sample and load it into the extraction cell.
_
Set up a method.
_
Press the
START
button.
_
Verify that the system
STATUS
is
OVEN READY
(see Figure 2-5) and the LED
on the
START
button is flashing.
_
Place the collection bottle, with the bottle cap screwed on, in the holder.
Lower the needle mechanism.
_
Place the extraction cell in the cell holder and close the cell door.
_
Press
START
to begin the run.
From this point, the ASE 100 automatically performs the extraction process. An
extraction consists of six main steps:
_
Filling the cell with solvent
_
Heating the cell (equilibration)
_
Static extraction
_
Flushing with fresh solvent
_
Purging solvent from the system
_
End relief
