7 Digital outputs
7.1 Introduction
Digital output axes are ‘axes’ that are driven by digital outputs. They do not require an additional
DM-module. The number of axes you can program depends on the type of control.
The following Digital output axes can be programmed:
•
R-digital: axis type ‘RD’.
•
on / off: axis type ‘FD’
•
second on/off: axis type ‘FD2’
For each axis, choose drive type ‘dig. out’.
The parameters are discussed in order of appearance. You can program the corresponding
parameters after pressing the softkey ‘change parameters’.
The parameters of R-digital are discussed in section 7.2 and the parameters of On/off in section
7.3.
7.2 Digital R-axis
You can use a digital R-axis in stead of a fully motor driven R-axis (servo R-axis or AC R-axis).
This type of axis is driven with digital outputs. These digital outputs - F1 and F2 in the included
default connection diagram - determine the possible digital R-axis situations or positions.
As there are only two digital outputs available, you can program maximal 4 different positions of
the digital R-axis.
There are seven different R-axis situations. Therefore some situations must be regarded as the
same axis position.
For each situation you have to program a parameter. Each parameter has three digits. The right
digit is to determine if this R-axis situation is allowed. When a situation is not allowed (A = 0)
then the values of F1 and F2 are ignored. The construction of your digital R-axis determines
which situations should be regarded as the same position (programmed with the same F1 and F2
value).
In the data preparation menu you must enter the three digit code that corresponds with the
required R-axis position. When you program a graphical product, then the positions are
computed automatically during postprocessing. The lay-on backgauge functionality is not
supported by the 3D bend sequence menu. In figure 7.2a you see the possible situations.
