6 VENTILATION SETTINGS
6.1 Minimum Ventilation
6.1.1 Minimum Ventilation Timer
Minimum ventilation cycles are acti-
vated whenever the average room tem-
perature is below the start temperature
of fan stage 1. Running the fans even
though ventilation is not required for
reducing the room temperature is use-
ful to reduce the humidity level and
supply oxygen to the room. It also pre-
vents the fans from freezing in winter.
The minimum ventilation timer is composed of an On and Off time: fans keep running
during the On Time then returns to a stop during the Off Time.
Minimum ventilation cycles can be provided by the two variable fan outputs and/or
by chosen On/Off fans. All minimum ventilation fans share the same timer; this timer
can automatically be adjusted over time as the animals are growing by using a curve.
6.1.2 Minimum Ventilation Curves
Many minimum ventilation parameters can be automatically adjusted over time by us-
ing the minimum ventilation curve function. A curve is composed of 10 steps. Each
step specifies a parameter value and the day at which this parameter starts being used;
this day refers to the animal age. The controller automatically changes the parameter
value over time in a linear fashion between consecutive steps of the curve. When the
last step is reached, the parameter value is maintained until a new batch starts.
The following graphic illustrates a curve applied on the timer’s On Time: the fans’ On
Time, within the minimum ventilation cycles, automatically increases between
consecutive steps of the curve. Negative day values are used to prepare the house
before the animals’ arrival.
