King Edge Vac
Repair
7-33
Remove the old tape from the drive roll.
Mark the center position of each tape with
a permanent marker so new tapes can be
properly positioned.
Scrape off any old cement which remains
on the roll using a scraper, coarse sand-
paper or a wire brush. Wipe away any
remaining residue with a clean cloth.
To apply the tape:
Cut a 9-7/16” (238 mm) for each
placement.
Remove the backing from the tape
Line the tape up with the center
mark.
Wrap the tape around the roll and butt
the ends together
.
Repeat Steps 13 to 15 for each tracking
tape location.
Bring the ribbons back into position and
replace the connecting pins. Make sure
the 1/2 right twist is maintained on the
underside of the discharge conveyor
(Figure 7-40).
Stagger the positions of the lacing clips to
give the flatwork a smooth flow.
Replace the drive chain and cover by re-
versing Steps 9 and 10.
Replace the air foil by reversing Steps 4
to 8. Be sure to carefully align the air foil
with its positioning marks. If necessary,
refer to the
Compressed Air System
section,
Air Foil Adjustment
procedure.

Rear ByPass Ribbons
This procedure involves lowering the rear
bypass conveyor while keeping the discharge
conveyor raised using sturdy wooden posts.
It will require several workers to handle the
conveyors and position and posts. It is important
that the posts be securely placed for worker
safety.
NOTE:
This procedure is best
performed by several workers.
The “buddy system” is the safest
system.
Additional Tools
2-4”x4” 42” long posts
Perform only when the unit is OFF
with power disconnected.
Make sure there is enough 1" (25 mm) tape
available to replace the old material. One
roll of tracking tape is required.
Turn power OFF at the main disconnect
switch.
Follow the
Discharge/ByPass Conveyors
Ribbons Tension Adjustment
procedure
earlier in this section to relieve tension on
the rear bypass ribbons.
