Inlet Clamps Air Pressure
Adjustment
If inlet clamp pressure is set too high, it can
strike the flatwork backing piece too hard, causing
damage. This is factory set to 50 psi (345 kPa)
and should
never
be exceeded.
If you notice any damage to the flatwork
packing piece, this pressure setting requires
downward adjustment.
Required Tools
thin slotted screwdriver
Perform only when the unit is OFF
with power disconnected.
WARNING
Wear protective eyewear
when working with
compressed air components.
Turn ON the compressed air supply to
the unit.
Locate the left side pneumatic panel (Fig-
ure 7-66, A) just to the left of the center
of the machine.
On the bottom of this unit is its main sole-
noid valve. Locate the override screw on
this valve (Figure 7-66, B).

Use a small screwdriver to push in the
lockout screw and turn it 1/4 turn clock-
wise to lock it in the “in” position. This
allows compressed air to flow to the inlet
clamp air solenoid valves (Figure 7-67,
A).
For these two valves, use a small screw-
driver to push in the lockout screw and
turn it 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it in the
“in” position. This allows air pressure to
flow to each of the inlet clamp pressure
regulators.
Make sure that each regulator is set to
no more than
50 psi (345 kPa) (Figure
7-67, B).
If this is already the setting and damage is
still occurring, lower each regulator to 45
psi (310 kPa) using the knobs at the top of
each regulator (Figure 7-67, C).
Reverse Step 5 and release the each inlet
clamp air solenoid screw by turning it 1/4
turn counterclockwise.
Reverse Step 4 and release the left main
solenoid valve screw by turning in 1/4 turn
counterclockwise.
Start the unit and run several pieces to test
the adjustment.
