Starting and driving3-5 

FRIENDLY TIPS

 

 

Before driving, confirm that 
parking brake assembly is fully 
released and parking brake 
indicator goes out. 

 

Do not leave the car when 
engine is running. 

 

Do not rest your foot on brake 
pedal during driving. This may 
cause dangerous overheating, 
wear and waste of fuel. 

 

When driving downward a long 
abrupt slope, slow down and 
shift to low gear. Remember that 
stepping on the brake too 
frequently may cause 
overheating that will affect the 
normal work. 

 

Take caution when accelerating, 
shifting to high gear, low gear or 
braking on slippery road. Either 
sudden acceleration or engine 
braking will cause car to slip or 
drive off track. 

 

When brake is wet, do not 
continue to drive normally. If 
brake is wet, a long braking 
distance is needed, and when 
using brake, vehicle may be off 

track. Also, parking brake 
cannot firmly brake the vehicle. 

 

Do not extend head, hands out 
of window to avoid traffic 
accidents that might endanger 
life, and please be careful 
especially when child is in the 
vehicle. 

 

NOTICE

 

 

When driving on wet road, avoid 
driving through the road on 
which there is too much water. 

 

If much water enters engine 
compartment, engine and (or) 
electrical component will be 
damaged. 

 

Driving tips in winter 

Confirm that coolant possesses 
correct protective effect of 
anti-freezing. 

Only coolant designated by BYD 
authorized service station can be 
used and proper model of coolant 
shall be selected for adding into 
cooling system in accordance with 
ambient temperature. 

Using inappropriate coolant will 
damage the engine cooling system. 

Check battery and cables 

Cold weather will cause reduced 
battery power; therefore, adequate 
power shall be maintained for starting 
up in winter time. 

Make sure that engine oil viscosity 
is suitable for driving in winter. 

For recommended engine oil viscosity, 
please see Section 7. 

Prevent door lock from being 
frozen by ice and snow. 

Spurt some deicing agent or glycerin
