3. If it does not conform to the
standard value, the automatic
tensioner shall be replaced.
If the pointer is beyond the
appropriate range or any wear is
discovered, please contact BYD
authorized service station for
replacement as soon as possible.
BYD 473 QE engine uses two poly V
belts to respectively drive the
generator and water pump, power
steering pump and the air condition
compressor. The two poly V belts
shall be regularly examined and
adjusted.
Insufficient or damaged tension of the
poly V belt will result in overheat of
the gasoline engine, reduction in
energy production, no power
assistance for steering and
insufficient refrigeration of the air
conditioner.
Adjustment methods:
Stop operating the gasoline engine;
tighten the adjusting bolts on the
engine position regulating block and
the power steering pump.
Tension measurement:
Exert 98 N pressures on the poly V
belt in accordance with the position
shown in the following picture.
Pressure range of the poly V belt shall
be 6 mm~9 mm.
If it is beyond this range, please send
your car to BYD authorized service
station to replace the transmission
belt.
Timing Chain
Check and maintenance for the
distribution mechanism and timing
chain shall be regularly conducted,
once the timing chain is broken or
there is slid tooth, components
including valves, pistons, rocker arm,
camshaft might be damaged. Hence,
