TRAILER SUSPENSION (Optional)
The SB4000 Sprayer can be ordered with a factory installed trailer suspension system. This is very useful when
spraying at high rates of speed and in rough field conditions. The suspension uses special hydraulic cylinders and
electrionic micro switches to control the height of the trailer. As the load rate changes on the sprayer, the micro
switches active electro-hydraulic valves to adjust the oil pressure in the cylinders. This keeps the suspension active
and the boom height constant no matter how much solution is in the tank. As solution is removed the tank, the
lower switch will move up, making contact with the axle housing tube. This will activate the suspension valve and
allow the suspension cylinder to retract, thus lowering the trailer and lowering the pressure in the suspension
cylinder. Nitrogen charged accumulators are built into the suspension cylinders to act as shock absorbers.
Remembering that the micro switches are only used to compensate for the load changes, a gap between the switch
wheel and the axle housing tube must be maintained to allow the suspension to move without activating the switches.
For more information see section 6.14 of this manual.
The suspension is actived with a cab mounted toggle switch.
The suspension axle uses axle spacers to change the wheel width of the sprayer. Available wheel widths are 72”
( 1.83 m) (centre of tire to centre of tire), 80” (2.03 m), 88” (2.24 m), 96” (2.44 m), 108” (2.75 m), 120”
(3.05 m), 132” (3.36 m), 144” (3.66 m) and a maximum of 152” (3.86 m).
NOTE: The wheel width
MUST NOT
be extended beyond 152” (3.86 m). Severe damage can
occur to the sprayer if the wheel width is extended beyond this measurement.
NOTE: Changes in ambient temperature effects the volume of nitrogen gas. It is expected that the
sprayer height will change during static storage. Suspension axle needs to be blocked up during
storage when sprayer is equipped with the windscreen option.
NOTE: A sprayer equipped with the Trailer Suspension option
CAN NOT
be
used with tractors that have
OPEN CENTRE
hydraulics.
DANGER
!
EXTREME CAUTION
must be used when working around the
sprayer trailer when the tractor is running.
FRAME PINCH ZONE
STAY CLEAR
To prevent serious injury or death from
pinching:
- Keep away from the pinch zone while
the tractor is running.
- Keep others away.
- Stop engine, set park brake, disconnect
hydraulic and electrical supplies and
block up frame before approaching pinch
zone.
