EXAMPLE - US Gallons
The operator is using 03 tips (XR8003VS) and wants to apply 15 gpa at 6 mph.
1. Check the Nozzle Delivery Rate Charts in section 4.9.2. They show that spraying at 40 psi will apply 14.9 gpa
travelling 6 mph. The nozzle flow is rated at 0.300 US gpm per nozzle.
2. Do a nozzle flow rate check (steps 1 to 4, Section 4.6) at 40 psi.
3. If the actual average flow per nozzle was 39.5 US ounces, the ounces, the gpm would be calculated as:
US gpm = ounces/128
US gpm = 39.5/128 = 0.308 gpm
4. In this example, the actual application rate per nozzle is 0.308 gpm. If the operator wants to apply exactly
0.300 gpm per nozzle, the pressure would have to be regulated down to decrease the flow rate.
EXAMPLE - Metric
The operator is using 03 tips (XR8003VS) and wants to apply 100 Lha at 13 km/hr.
1. Check the Nozzle Delivery Rate Charts in section 4.9.3. They show
that spraying at 275 kPa will apply 103
L/ha travelling at 13 km/hr. The nozzle flow is rated at 1.14 L/min per nozzle.
2. Do a nozzle flow rate check (steps 1 to 4, Section 4.6) at 275 kPa.
3. The actual average flow per nozzle is 1.17 L/min. If the operator wants to apply 1.14 L/min per nozzle, the
pressure would have to be regulated down to the flow rate.
EXAMPLE - Imperial Gallons
The operator is using 03 tips (XR8003VS) and wants to apply 15 gpa at 5 mph.
1. Check the Nozzle Delivery Rate Charts in section 4.9.1. They show that spraying at 40 psi will apply 14.9 gpa
travelling 5 mph. The nozzle flow is rated at 0.250 Imp. gpm per nozzle.
2. Do a nozzle flow rate check (steps 1 to 4, Section 4.6) at 40 psi.
3. If the actual average flow per nozzle was 41 Imp. ounces, the gpm would be calculated as:
Imp gpm = ounces/160
Imp gpm = 41/160 = 0.256 gpm
4. In this example, the actual application rate per nozzle is 0.256 gpm. If the operator wants to apply exactly
0.250 gpm per nozzle, the pressure would have to be regulated down to decrease the flow rate.
