3.4 TOWING
CAUTION!
Check with local authorities regarding sprayer transport on public roads.
Obey all applicable laws and regulations.
Only tow at a safe speed. Use caution when making corners or meeting traffic.
Turn on flashing safety lights whenever travelling on a highway.
To prevent accidental disconnection, use a safety chain between the tow vehicle and the
sprayer hitch when transporting on public roads.
1. Do not transport a fully loaded sprayer at speeds
greater than 20 mph (30 km/hr). The fully loaded
implement being towed can not weight more than
1.5 times the gross vehicle weight of the tow vehicle.
2. Use the jack supplied, to adjust the sprayer hitch to
the height of the towing vehicle hitch. Connect to a
clevis hitch with a draw pin, and lock in place with a
hairpin. Retract the jack and move it into the storage
position.
3. A safety chain capable of a force of 90 kN (20,200
lb.) is required between the implement and the towing
vehicle as shown in Fig 3.5. The safety chain must
be attached in a manner to allow proper movement
between the sprayer and transport vehicle.
4. Make sure the inner booms (Fig 3.6) are seated in
the front storage rests . Use a safety pin through the
storage rest to prevent the booms from becoming
unseated during rough road conditions.
5. Make sure the Outer Boom Transport Pin and the
Lift Cylinder Straps are in place before transporting.
See Fig. 3.7 and 3.8.
6. Always transport with the sprayer tank empty.
