BOOM BREAKAWAY
The boom on the Brandt Suspended Boom Sprayer has a number of break away sections designed into it.
IMPORTANT:
The breakaway boom is meant to be an operator safety/convenience feature. Sprayer
damage may result from misuse (purposely hitting objects to release the boom). Use caution
when spraying along fence lines or turning corners at the end of the field and avoid objects rather
than hitting them. This will ensure the longest life of the sprayer.
The Outer Boom Tip is designed to break 90
o
back and 15
o
up. See Fig. 3.31. When the boom is past the
object, the boom tip will automatically return to field position.
NOTE: After impact it is recommended to stop and check for any damaged spray boom components.
The Inner Boom is designed to break 5
o
up,
when equipped with the optional touch down wheels
. The Outer
Boom is designed to break 10
o
up,
when equipped with the optional touch down wheels
. See Fig. 3.32.
When the boom is past the object, it will automatically return to a horizontal position.
Note: The booms will break up as shown, even if the touch down wheels are not installed. However, disturbance
to the land or damage to the crop being sprayed will happen. Damage to the sprayer may also occur.
