6.1 Installation Requirements
Keep the following points in mind when installing the Head Unit:
•
The following work distances represent the distance from the bottom surface of the lens's flange to
the focal position. Because the work distance varies depending on individual differences in equipment
and laser processing conditions, ensure the Head Unit is installed to allow adjustment in a range of
±
5 mm relative to these values.
•
Install the Head Unit so that you can make level adjustments and keep it level after installation.
•
For the Head Unit mounting platform, use a sheet of metal at least 10 mm thick.
•
Isolate the mounting platform from vibration.
Although vibration of 0.1 G or less during operation is acceptable, even subtler vibration may affect or
distort marking and processing. Keep the mounting platform separate from conveyor lines or other
equipment to prevent vibration and impact.
•
When marking highly reflective materials (such as gold, silver, copper, aluminum, steel, or stainless
steel), do not position them about the marking origin. Also, make sure the focal distance is correct.
Positioning highly reflective materials about the marking origin or positioning workpieces closer than
the lens focal distance may cause the laser to reflect from the workpiece and burn the inside of the
Head Unit.
•
When using two opposed Head Units, install them so that neither laser is aimed at the other unit.
A laser directed at parts in the other head may burn the interior of the unit.
