CW Operation
CW op eration is one of the ma jor functions of the sw ept signal
generator, and is easy to do using fron t panel k eys. In CW op eration,
the sw ept signal generator pro duces a single, low-noise, syn thesized
frequency . T ry this example: Press 4

--> CW: 12345.678000 MHz
The data display area indicates CW op eration and the frequency
that y ou en tered. The ENTR Y ON LED is lit and the green SWEEP
LED is o.
T ry other frequencies. Exp erimen t with the rotary knob and the
arrow k eys as alternate metho ds of data en try .
Start/Stop Frequency
Sw eep
The sw ept signal generator can sw eep a frequency span as wide as
the frequency range of the instrumen t, or as narrow as 0 Hz (swept
CW).
In start/stop sw eep op eration, the sw ept signal generator pro duces
a sw eep from the selected start frequency to the selected stop
frequency .

The data display area indicates the start frequency and the stop
frequency . The green SWEEP LED is on (p erio dically o when
sw eep is retracing). Because this is the active function, the active
en try area indicates:
--> STOP FREQUENCY: 7890.000000 MHz
