GPIB Check, Example
Program 1
This rst program is to v erify that the GPIB connections and
in terface are functional. Connect a con troller to the sw ept signal
generator via a GPIB cable. Clear and reset the con troller and t yp e
in the following program:
10 Source=719
20 ABORT 7
30 LOCAL Source
40 CLEAR Source
50 REMOTE Source
60 CLS
70 PRINT "The source should now be in REMOTE."
80 PRINT "Verify that the 'REMOTE' LED is on."
90 END
Run the program and v erify that the REMOTE LED is lit on the
sw ept signal generator. If it is not, v erify that the sw ept signal
generator address is set to 19 and that the in terface cable is prop erly
connected.
If the con troller display indicates an error message, it is p ossible that
the program w as en tered in incorrectly . If the con troller accepts
the REMOTE statement but the sw ept signal generator REMOTE
LED do es not turn on, p erform the op erational c hec ks as outlined in
the resp ectiv e Op erating and Service Manuals to nd the defectiv e
device.
Program Comments
10: Set up a v ariable to con tain the GPIB address of the source.
20: Ab ort an y bus activit y and return the GPIB in terfaces to their
reset states.
30: Place the source in to LOCAL to cancel an y Lo cal Lo c k outs
that may ha v e b een set up.
40: Reset the source's parser and clear an y p ending output from
the source. Prepare the source to receiv e new commands.
50: Place the source in to REMOTE.
60: Clear the display of the computer.
70: Print a message to the computer's display .
