CONNECTORS
GPIB connector allo ws the sw ept signal generator to b e connected
to an y other instrumen t or device on the in terface bus. All GPIB
instrumen ts can b e connected with GPIB cables and adapters. These
cables are sho wn in the accompan ying illustration. The adapters are
principally extension devices for instrumen ts that ha v e recessed or
cro wded GPIB connectors.

As man y as 14 GPIB instrumen ts can b e connected to the sw ept
signal generator (15 total instrumen ts in the system). The cables
can b e in terconnected in a \star" pattern (one cen tral instrumen t,
with the GPIB cables emanating from that instrumen t like sp ok es
on a wheel), or in a linear pattern (lik e b o xcars on a train), or an y
com bination pattern. There are certain restrictions:
Eac h instrumen t m ust ha v e a unique GPIB address, ranging from
0 to 30 (decimal). Refer to

In a t w o-instrumen t system that uses just one GPIB cable, the
cable length m ust not exceed 4 meters (13 ft).
When more than t w o instrumen ts are connected on the bus, the
cable length to eac h instrumen t m ust not exceed 2 meters (6.5 ft)
p er unit.
