sw eep to jump to the next p oint when the signal b ecomes TR UE,
therefore the rst p oint in the list or stepp ed sw eeps is pro duced
immediately up on starting the sw eep. Receiving a trigger signal at
the last p oint causes the IDLE state to b e re-en tered. Analog sw eeps
do not use the trigger signals during the sw eep (although the trigger
signals are needed to start the sw eep as describ ed).
The ABORt command resets an y sw eep in progress and immediately
returns the instrumen t to the IDLE state.
The *WAI, *OPC and *OPC? commands indicate a complete op eration
at the end of the sw eep up on re-en try in to the IDLE state.
Adv anced Trigger Configurations
Because the SCPI lay ered trigger mo del is expandable, man y more
complex trigger congurations are p ossible.
Trigger Keyw ord
Definitions
The following paragraphs con tain condensed denitions of the
k eyw ords used in the command tables. Many of the commands in
trigger related subsystems are event c ommands . Remem b er that
ev en t commands cannot b e queried. Similarly , ev en t commands
ha v e no related *RST actions or settings. Ev en t commands cause a
particular action to take place inside the sw ept signal generator.
ABORt
The ABORt command forces the trigger system to the idle state. An y
measuremen t or output sequence in pro cess is ab orted as quic kly as
p ossible. ABOR t do es not alter the settings programmed b y other
commands, unlik e *RST . ABOR t is a ro ot lev el ev en t command and
cannot b e queried.
IMMediate
The IMMediate command pro vides a one-time o v erride of the normal
do wn w ard path in an ev en t-detection state. The instrumen t m ust b e
in the sp ecied ev en t detection state when IMMediate is receiv ed, or
an error is generated and the command has no eect. F or example,
the instrumen t m ust b e in the TRIG state for :TRIGger:IMMediate
to w ork prop erly . If the instrumen t is in the idle state, the command
has no eect, and an error w ould b e generated. IMMediate is an
ev en t command and cannot b e queried.
ODELay
The ODELay command sp ecies the time b et w een the source
settling and the time the trigger out signal is sen t. Sp ecifying
:TRIGger:ODELay <num>{time suffix} instructs the sw ept
signal generator to set the sp ecied time as the dela y necessary to
ensure prop er settling. Sending *RST sets ODELay to an instrumen t
dep enden t v alue, usually zero.
