The air intended for engaging the electric signal senders and other consumers
is taken off air bottles 3, 27 through triple safety valve 5.
If it is required to check up the air pressure, check outlet valves 25, which it is
possible to connect a portable pressure gauge to, are installed in each circuit.
If the truck travels with the trailer, which has a single
-
line brake drive, the
truck is articulated with the trailer with the help of coupling head 18, the trailer
with a double
-
line brake drive – with coupling heads 16, 17.
Pressing the brake pedal engages the first and the second circuits of the truck
brake drive as well as the third circuit of the trailer brake drive.
If one of the circuits is out of order, the rest remain efficient.
To brake the truck with a trailer at a parking place the parking brake lever
should be set in its top fixed position: in so doing control valve 10 lets the compress
air out of outlet II (see Fig. 75) of valve 15 (see Fig. 67) and actuates the trailer
brake gears.
The alarm system and that of control over the brakes condition is available
with the truck (See Chapter «Controls and Instruments»). Minimum air pressure
senders are installed in the air bottles. Service brake failure senders (braking fluid
leakage or large clearances between the brake shoes and drum) are installed in the
air boosters.
The equipment relating to the brakes pneumatic drive serves to generate a re-
serve of the compressed air and to actuate the truck and trailer brakes.
