The slide valve body of the steering gear has a blind drill hole with dia.
12 mm, 5 mm deep, between the lower unions, which serves as a distinguishing
mark. Do not use steering gears missing this drill hole for steering with a
hydraulic booster that is secured to the left-hand frame side-member.
The steering column
is connected with the steering gear by cardan shafts
via center support 8 (see Fig. 56). Lubrication

free bearings of closed type are ap-
plied in the center support design.
The steering gear with booster control valve
comprises worm 3 (Fig. 58) and
worm segment 5 featuring spiral teeth. Steering pitman arm 25 is connected to the
segment shaft through a taper splined joint. The segment thrusts against side case
cover 18 via shims 19.
The segment is limited in sagging by pin 17 fitted in the case cover.
The booster control valve of slide type is mounted on the steering gear case.
The valve body is connected with the booster pump and cylinder via pipes.
The truck moving straight, the slide valve is in its neutral position. Now oil flows
from the pump into the slide valve body and then, through gaps between the
