The torque rod joints are of ball type. The pins with shortened taper fitted in the
upper torque rods on the axles’ side are held against turning through in the brackets
by means of Woodruf keys. The torque rod head is sealed on the one side by a gasket
fitted under the cover, while on the other side by packing ring 23.
Buffer 9 serves to damp impacts of the axles on the frame when the truck wheel
runs over an obstacle. The axle’s move downwards is limited by jamming the spring
end in supporting bracket 8.
The suspension of the trucks having a load of 12 000 kg on the rear bogie
features reinforced springs ( with thicker leaves) and correspondingly extended U-
bolts.
Maintenance.
To prevent shearing of the front spring center bolt and centering
protrusion of the rear spring in due time torque the U
-
bolt nuts on a loaded truck.
When squeaking is sensed in the springs, jack up the truck against its frame and pack
grease into the gaps formed between the leaves. Once disassembling the springs
lubricate the leaves after removing the aged grease, soil and rust. Wash and lubricate
the eyes and pins of the front springs.
