When the starter and instrument switch is set in position III, the power is sup-
plied to the electromagnet solenoid of the electropneumatic valve; the electromag-
net pole core moves and actuates the system of valves in the pneumatic part and
the air from the air distributing spider of the brake system is supplied to the engine
stop pneumatic cylinder and in so doing it cuts off the fuel feeding to the engine
cylinders.
The terminals on the starter and instrument switch are marked as follows: blue
– 15/2, blue and black – 15/1, yellow – P, red – 50, brown – 30/1, pink – 30,
black – INT.
Starter and instrument switch 24 on the dashboard has three positions:
0 – vertical: the starter and instruments are switched off and the key can be
taken out;
I – intermediate: the key is turned clockwise till the first fixed position is
reached – the instruments are switched on;
II – extreme: the key is turned clockwise as far as it goes - the instruments
and starter are switched on.
When starter & instruments switch 24 is on, oil pressure alarm drop lamp 2
turns on (red colour). After the engine is started and the engine speed exceeds its
minimum value, the lamp turns off.
Illumination of the dial can be adjusted by turning the knob of switch 25.
The windshield wiper and washer are switched on by turning switch 23. The
switch has four positions: I – switched off; II & III – low and high speeds of wiper
blades; IV –high speed of wiper blades & windshield washer pump ON.
The glow
-
plug preheater operates if button 17 is held pressed. When pilot
lamp 8 (Fig.13) turns on, it indicates that the glow
-
plug preheater becomes ready
for starting the engine.
When buttons 6, 7 are pressed, all the pilot lamps of the l.h. or r.h. assemblies,
which are in good working order, turn ON.
Pilot lamp 9 gives flickering green light after the truck right
-
or left
-
turn in-
dicator has been switched on; pilot lamp 10 goes on after the trailer right
-
or left
-
turn indicator has been switched on. These pilot lamps also serve to control the
working order of the truck and trailer indicator lamps.
If the air pressure in the bottles drops below 450 kPa (4.5 kgf/cm2), lamp 4
gives red light and the sound alarm is switched on.
If clearances between the brake shoes and drums are increased, and also if the
drive hydraulic part fails, when the brake pedal is pressed, lamp 3 gives red light
and goes off, after the fault is remedied.

assembly; pilot lamps: 1 – parking brake; 2 –
coolant temperature emergency rise; 3 –
brake failure; 4 – pneumatic system minimum
air pressure; 5 – oil filter clogging; 6, 7 – pilot
lamps test buttons; 8 – glow
