- apply the parking brake of the bolster truck. Then make sure that the safety
latch 19 has occupied the upright position and blocks the travel of the handle to you;
- lift the supporting device of the semi-trailer in the top extreme position and
fasten it securely;
- plug in the semi-trailer power cable;
- connect the coupling hoses of the bolster truck brake pneumatic drive with the
coupling heads of the semi-trailer;
- release the parking brake of the semi-trailer;
- drive the road train for some distance, make sure that the truck and semi-
trailer have been coupled properly and the semi-trailer brakes and electric appliances
function efficiently.
When coupling the bolster truck with the semi-trailers of different brands, adjust
the distance between the clips on the hoses to prevent their breakage because of the
friction on the outward-projecting parts of the bolster truck, as well as make sure
there are no clearances or tension in the pintle-to-catches connection. If required,
adjust the clearances between the catches the pintle as described above.
Choose an even site to park the semi-trailer prior to coupling.
For uncoupling
proceed as follows:
- brake the semi-trailer with the parking brake;
- lower down the semi-trailer supporting device up to the stop at the ground,
having relieved the leaf springs of the bolster truck. In case of emergency uncoupling
on loose ground put pads under the supporting device of the semi-trailer;
- plug out the semi-trailer power cable;
- disconnect the coupling heads of the brake pneumatic drive (first – the feed-
ing main, then – the control main) and close them by protective caps. Fasten the
coupling heads with the hoses on the bolster truck plate;
- turn handle 1 to you, in so doing safety strip 19 will be drawn aside, and latch
6 will rest on the end of locking cam 5 and hold it open;
- engage the first gear and move the bolster truck forward at a low speed until
the latter and the semi-trailer uncouple completely.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT
Lay
-
out of auxiliary units, their drives and power take
-
off modes should be
agreed upon with the manufacturers. The cardan shafts installed by a customer to drive
any auxiliary units should have an unbalance not more than 40 g
ּ◌
cm and the effort of
travels in the splined connections not more than 150 N (15 kg
ּ◌
f).
Power take-off
The power take
-
off (PTO) is single
-
speed and fastened to the right side of the
gearbox housing and is designed to drive auxiliary units. Two versions of the power
take
-
off: with a pump (Fig. 107) and with a flange (Fig. 108) are manufactured.
Engage the power take
-
off, when the pressure in the truck pneumatic system is
not less than 500 kPa (5 kg
ּ◌
f/cm
2
) and the clutch is disengaged. Shims are installed
between flanges of the gearbox and power take
-
off cases. The side clearance in the
gearing is adjusted (for noise) with the help of the shims. If it is required to change the
old shims for the new ones, their thickness should be kept unchanged.
