SALVAGING
Upon expiry of its service life, the truck is subject to salvaging. For this pur-
pose follow this procedure:
-
wash and dry the truck;
-
remove the storage batteries and check whether they are further servicea-
ble. If not, pour off the electrolyte into special glassware and bring the
storage batteries to a collecting station;
-
pour off the coolant from the engine cooling system into a special vessel;
-
pour off the oils from the truck units and remove the rest of oil from the
filling hollows of the units with the help of gas-vapour installation;
-
dismantle the electric wiring from the truck and bring it to a collecting
station;
-
remove the wheels, plastic and rubber parts from the truck and bring them
to a collecting station;
-
dismantle the truck units, disassemble them, detect defective parts and
bring the parts, which are not suited for application as spares, to a collect-
ing station.
The brake apparatus which are subject to salvaging should be disassembled.
The parts are to be assorted according to types of materials. Depending on how
much the parts are worn, particular parts can be utilized for repairing similar appa-
ratus, the rest of the metal parts are to be collected as scrap.
When salvaging, observe safety precautions described in the section “Safety
Requirements”.
When working with poisonous and dangerous materials, fulfill general tech-
nical requirements for handling them.
