ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT
The system of electric equipment is single-wire, the negative terminals of
power-supply sources and consumers are grounded to the truck body. The nega-
tive terminal of the storage battery is connected with the «ground» by a distance
switch.
The power-supply sources are two storage batteries, connected in series, and
a generator that operates in combination with a voltage regulator. The units and
instruments relating to the electric equipment are connected by P.V.C.-insulated
conductors of various sections. The wires, which are a constituent part of the
bunches, have a particular color for detecting and assembling them easily. Single
wires can be of any color. The wire color can be marked by the first letter of the
colour name on the collars mounted on both ends of the wire.
The wires are connected to each other and with the instruments by plug and
socket joints. The colors of the truck wires are given in Appendix 4.
A mechanically-driven speedometer, electronic instruments and systems: a
tachometer, an alternator with a rectifying unit, etc. are available with the truck.
To prevent breakage of ГВ 300-05 speedometer flexible shaft, when mounting
or dismantling the dashboard, it is required to lay the shaft so that the mark applied
with paint on the shaft sheathing is located outside the cab right after the sealing
bush of the flexible shaft through hole; in so doing it is necessary to lay the flexible
shaft without any loops behind the dashboard.
To ensure reliable operation of the said instruments and systems, care should
be taken to condition of the fuses installed in assemblies. Avoid the use of non-
standard fuses in the form of bended wires, bolts, washers, because it will result in
immediate failure of the electronic items if a short-circuit occurs. A blown-out
fuse should be replaced by the one having the same value of working current.
Fifth wheel headlight–projector is installed in the URAL-4420-10, URAL-
4420-31 and URAL-44202-0612-30 bolster trucks cab rear panel.
Untight lighting devices are installed in the URAL-43202-0351-31 and
URAL-44202-0311-31 bolster trucks; a cab heater capacitor, the capacitor filter
11.7904, a preheater motor capacitor, a tire pressure gauge with an illumination light
are not installed.
The electric circuit diagram for URAL-4320-10, URAL-4320-31 trucks both
for defence and civil needs is shown in Fig. 86 (see the insert). Definitions to Fig. 86
are given in Table 5.
