11. Power on the frame and the control panel — in any order desired.
This completes the procedure for upgrading system software. Please continue with the “ Restoring
Disk Registers ” procedure.
Notes on Using a USB Key
The USB Removable Media Drive Option replaces the floppy disk drive on the control panel, and
supports industry standard USB keys. Once the option is installed, you can store and recall complete
switcher setups including memory functions, switcher personalities, installation registers, and more,
to a USB key.
Consider the following notes when using a USB key:
• Write protect should be disabled on any USB key.
• All Synergy files must be stored in the Root directory of the USB key.
• Only DOS or Windows™ partitions in the USB key directory are supported.
• You must wait 5 seconds after inserting the USB key into the USB port before you can
save or recall files.
• A delay can be expected when saving files to a USB key with more than half of the
available memory allocated.
• You may receive a “
USB Upgrade Failed
” error message when the Synergy 1 control
panel is powered on. Should you receive this error message, contact Ross Video
Technical Support for instructions on how to correct the error.
Restoring Registers to the Synergy 1 Switcher
Use the following procedure to restore your registers to on-line memory:
1. Ensure that the new Synergy software version is properly installed. If not, refer to the
section “ Software Upgrade ”on page 3-11.
2. Locate the “backup” storage device that you made in the section “ System Backup ”on
page 3-10.
3. Read the entire contents of the storage device into switcher memory as follows:
• Press HOME to display the Main Menu 1-2 .
• Press DISK to display the Disk Menu .
• Insert the backup storage device into its drive or port of the switcher.
• Press Recall to display the Disk Recall Menu .
Important After restoring power to the control panel, you may receive the error
message “
USB Upgrade Failed ”. Contact Ross Video Technical
Support for more information on correcting the error.
Important A decrease in performance will result from storing more than one set
of Synergy files on your USB key.
