A Note About Memory Registers
Switcher memory registers are stored in the frame’s flash memories, along with the FPGA
configuration files and the microprocessor code files.
Memory registers are recalled directly from
flash. The non-volatile memory registers only record the current system state in them. They are low
power RAMs which are battery backed (the battery rating is 5 to 10 years).
A Note About the Software Upgrade Process
If a software upgrade has been requested, the control panel reads the upgrade file from a floppy disk
or USB key, and then searches for the “boot loader” file.
This special file controls the steps required in
the upgrade. The boot loader reads the control panel file off the floppy disk or USB key, decompresses
it and upgrades the flash. It also loads the frame upgrade file off the floppy disk or USB key, sends it
via serial communications to the frame microprocessor — where it is decompressed and uploaded to
the frame’s flash.
Once the entire process is complete, you can then power down the Synergy frame and panel, and place
the Software Upgrade Switch (
DIP Switch 4, SW8 ) back to the DOWN position.
Notes on Using a USB Key
You may receive a “ USB Upgrade Failed ” error message when the Synergy control panel is powered
on. Should you receive this error message, contact Ross Video Technical Support for instructions on
how to correct the error.
Note
If the software upgrade process is interrupted, the flash is unaffected.
Flash is not uploaded until all upgrade information has been
transferred.
