User management
10.8.1
Simple username
The setting "TransWin32 User …" is simply a plaintext replacement for the name of
the currently logged-in Windows user. If nothing has been entered for the TransWin32
User setting, the username of the Windows user account appears on the printed
verification reports. If there is an entry, this setting is always included as the user on
the verification report. In a subsequent software version, this menu item will be
moved into the "User and password" dialog box.
10.8.2
Simple password
Simple password protection is also available independently of the simple username.
The setting can be accessed from Configure ->
Other -> User and Password
Settings
. Direct access is possible using the
User and Password Settings
icon. In
the settings shown, simple password protection is now active. In this mode, all
settings except for profile selection are inaccessible to an operator without the
password.
10.8.3
Setting up user management
After an update of a device without user management or after the first installation,
neither user management nor password protection is active.
User management must first be activated in order to take effect. It can be temporarily
deactivated at any time or switched off again in full by deleting all users (see below).
Activation of user management results in the following changes: a managed list of
users with their passwords and their rights status. Management of the user list and
user logins/logouts is handled in centralised fashion on the device. Each user must
authenticate him-/herself with a password before using the device.
