Configuring the evaluation and symbologies
This section describes the essential REA MLV-2D configuration options. This
configuration is performed using the Windows software TransWin32. A detailed
description of TransWin32 is provided in a separate operating manual.
10.1
Evaluation
The presets for the evaluation are configured using the menu Configure -> Evaluation.
The most important setting is "Selected grade". This setting specifies the desired
minimum quality as a grade according to the respective test standard: "Sufficient"
(grade 1), "Satisfactory" (grade 2), "Good" (grade 3) or "Very good" (grade 4). A
measurement result that achieves grade 2 ("Satisfactory"), for example, is thus
evaluated as a "pass" if the previously selected grade was 1 and as a "fail" if the
previously selected grade was 3.
The barcode evaluation (1D) permits a choice between an ISO/IEC 15416 and an
ANSI X3.182 evaluation (this ANSI standard has since been withdrawn).
The choice of ISO or ANSI does not change the evaluation and the measurement
result. Only the presentation of the measurement result changes – the grade is then
given using letters instead of numbers (A instead of 4, B instead of 3, C instead of 2,
D instead of 1 and F instead of 0).
The matrix code evaluation (2D) permits a choice between the method according to
ISO/IEC 15415 for printed codes (on labels, for example) or the DPM method
according to ISO/IEC TR 29158, used for dot-peened codes or codes laser-marked or
etched onto metal.
(Note: The REA MLV-2D offers lighting only from a 45° angle. This type
of lighting is usable for only some of the DPM codes.)
