Multiple measurements
Multiple measurements are usually taken for barcodes according to ISO/IEC 15416.
The REA MLV-2D presets are configured for taking multiple barcode measurements.
ISO/IEC 15415 specifies that 2D codes must be measured only once. Multiple
measurements at different angles of rotation can be configured in the software (since
the older (now withdrawn) version of ISO/IEC 15415 required this functionality). In
certain cases – such as with dot-peened codes or metal surfaces featuring sawn or
abraded structures, for example – there is a possibility that the results will vary very
greatly due to the properties of the material or code on the substrate material and at
different angles of rotation. In this case, one can specify that the average result of all
angles of rotation measured can be used as a criterion. As an alternative, the worst
result from multiple measurements at various angles of rotation can be used as a
criterion (if the angle of rotation is random when reading, for example). Another
option is to define specific rotation angle for the symbol to be tested.
