Software
The REA TransWin32 software is required for operation. Only one REA MLV-2D can be
used per computer. Other REA verifiers can be installed and used on this computer –
just not a second REA MLV-2D device. The licence for the REA TransWin32 software is
linked to the REA verifier and not to the PC installation. Accordingly, TransWin32 can
be installed on multiple PCs in parallel. The REA TransWin32 software is always
included in the REA MLV-2D scope of delivery.
REA TransWin32 is designed solely for device configuration, as well as the display and
management of verification reports. The actual grading of the code measured is
performed in a separate device service (Verifier Device Server). The device service is
started (and terminated) automatically with the TransWin32 software.

Software installation
Prior to the actual installation, the Microsoft .NET Framework must be installed. The
REA installation checks whether .NET is present and cancels the operation if it is not
installed. On the Microsoft website, there is a search function in the download section.
If searching for ".NET offline", the website suggests the .NET installation package
(Version 4.5.2, as of July 2014). As of this writing (summer 2015), the latest version
of the .NET Framework is offered by Microsoft Update automatically.
Once the system requirements have been met, the TransWin32 program must then be
installed. To do so, start "Setup.exe". Depending on the version, either the
TransWin32 install is offered directly or first the TransWin32 button and then "Install
TransWin32".
Administrator rights are required for installation. For day-to-day use, normal user
rights are sufficient. If the software is installed for all users, the "All Users" folder is
used. This general user directory is by default accessible to all users. In case it is not
accessible the installation won’t work.
The safest and least complicated option when installing turns the user account into an
admin account for the installation. Since the installation is performed for this user
only, only the Documents folder of the logged-in user is used. If the installation is
being performed with the "Run as administrator" option, it will use the administrator
account itself and not the user's account. In this case, the software should be installed
for all users and care should be taken to ensure that all users have read/write
permissions for the "All Users" folder.
In the event of communications between the Windows software TransWin32 and the
REA MLV-2D experiencing dropped connections or error messages such as sensor
errors, two courses of action can be taken:
1.
Both the PC and the REA MLV-2D can be connected to a small local switch.
2.
On the PC, the REA MLV-2D requires a dedicated Ethernet port used exclusively
by this device.
If an older version of the TransWin32 software was installed previously, this will be
removed before installation of the new version. In some cases, it will be necessary to
remove the old version manually by using "Programs" from the Windows control
panel.
