Technical Description /

Technische Beschreibung

:

The tested vehicles were equipped with a
prototype of the GPS based steering
system SmarTrax MD.
The mechanical drive unit is mounted with
special brackets to the steering column.
It uses a ring gear which is installed with
an adapter to the serial steering column
of the vehicle and finally the original
steering wheel will be fixed.
An anti-rotation pin between the special
brackets and the mechanical drive unit
prevents the rotating of the mechanical
drive unit.
The controller SmarTrax MD Node is in-
stalled besides the driver and connected
with the mechanical drive unit and the
monitor SmarTrax Cruiser II Control (opt.
monitor Envizio Pro or monitor Viper Pro).
The GPS antennas will be fixed on the
cab’s roof and connected to the
controller.
Below the mechanical drive unit there is a
master switch for the drive unit and the
lighted logo of “RAVEN” shows the
condition. The system can be activated
by the monitor (touch screen) or the
additional foot switch.
