Changing tires
Preparing the vehicle
1. Vehicles with manual transmission: 1st gear.
– or –
Vehicles with PDK: Move the selector lever to
position
P .
2. Actuate the electric parking brake.
3. Remove vehicle key.

4. Secure the vehicle to prevent it from rolling away,
e.g. by means of wedges under the wheels on the
opposite side.
5. Slightly loosen the wheel bolts on the wheel to be
changed.
6. Raise the vehicle only at the specified jacking
points.

7. Raise the vehicle until the wheel lifts off the
ground.

1. For vehicles without PCCB: Remove wheel bolt A
(Fig. 198).
– or –
For vehicles with PCCB: Remove wheel bolts A
and B (Fig. 198).
2. Screw in assembly aid(s) instead of wheel bolts
(Fig. 198).
3. Remove the remaining wheel bolts.
4. Remove the wheel and fit a new wheel.

5. Insert wheel bolts and tighten only slightly in
diagonally opposite sequence.
6. Remove assembly aids and screw in remaining
wheel bolts.
Initially tighten bolts only slightly in a diagonally
opposite sequence so that the wheel is centered.
7. Inflate the tires if necessary.

8. Lower the vehicle fully and remove the jack.
9. Tighten the wheel bolts in diagonally opposite
sequence.
After changing a wheel, immediately use a
torque wrench to check the specified tightening
torque of the wheel bolts (118 lb-ft (160 Nm)).
NOTICE
The brake disks can become damaged in the case of
improper wheel change, especially in vehicles with
PCCB.

When changing a wheel, screw in the assembly
aids.
Information
The settings of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System
must be updated in the multifunction display after
the wheel change.
