Locking the rear luggage compartment lid

The luggage compartment lid can be locked in 2
positions while open.
e
Position 1 : Raise luggage compartment lid up to
pressure point.
e
Position 2 : Raise luggage compartment lid
beyond the pressure point.

1. Press the or button.
The relevant lid is unlocked.
2. Lift up the lid slightly
3. Front luggage compartment lid: release the
safety catch.
4. Open the lid completely.
Closing luggage compartment lid
1. Lower the relevant lid and let it fall into the lock.
Press the lid closed with the flat of your hand over
the lock area.
2. Check that the lid has correctly engaged in the
lock.
3. If a lid is not closed properly, a message appears
on the multifunction display when driving.

718 Spyder: When the convertible top is closed,
the button on the vehicle key is disabled.
Information
When the luggage compartment lids are unlocked
using the vehicle key, the vehicle doors are also
unlocked.
CAUTION
Heavy Luggage Compart-
ment Lid
When closing the luggage compartment lid, it can fall
into the lock by its own weight from the half-way
open position.
e
Make sure that no objects or limbs are located
within range of the moving parts (hinges) or
under the luggage compartment lid.
DANGER
Unsecured Luggage
Compartment Lid
If the warning message in the multi-purpose display
lights up when the vehicle is in motion, the lid may
impact in front of the windshield and can tear off.
e
Stop the vehicle immediately when the warning
message lights up.
e
Check the luggage compartment.
e
Close the lid.
WARNING
Unsecured Luggage
When loading the luggage compartment, make sure
that items of luggage or other objects cannot
become caught on the handle. This could cause the
luggage compartment to open unintentionally.
