Observe the seat belt warning light
and warning message
When the ignition is switched on, a red warning light
appears in the instrument panel for a few seconds
as a functional check.
The red warning light
in the instrument panel
remains on until the seat belt on the driver’s side has
been fastened.
A warning message is also displayed on the multi-
function display.
When the speed of the vehicle reaches approxi-
mately 15 mph (24 km/h), a warning signal also
sounds and the red warning light
in the instru-
ment panel starts to flash when the seat belt on the
driver’s side is not fastened.

1. Assume a comfortable seating position.
2. Adjust the backrest (backrest angle is not
adjustable at the full bucket seat) so that the
shoulder belt passes over the center of your
shoulder and is positioned on your upper body.
3. Grasp the seat belt by the belt latch and pull it
slowly and evenly over your chest and hip.
4. Insert the belt latch into the corresponding belt
buckle on the inside of the seat until it engages
audibly (Fig. 161).
5. Ensure that the seat belts are not trapped or
twisted and are not rubbing against any sharp
edges.
6. Ensure that the lap belt always fits tautly across
the lap. After fastening the seat belt, tension the
lap belt by pulling the shoulder belt up.
For pregnant women: Position the lap belt so that
it is as far down on the lap as possible and not
pressing against the abdomen.
7. During the journey, pull on the shoulder belt
occasionally to ensure that the lap belt remains
under tension.

1. Grasp the belt latch.
2. Press the red button on the belt buckle.
3. Move the belt latch to approximately 2.76 in
(7 cm) below the deflector of the retractor roller
and secure with the plastic slider (Fig. 162).
The function of the plastic slider is to ensure that
the belt latch is easily accessible.
Information
The seat belt can jam in the following situations:
– Vehicle is at an angle.
– Seat belt is pulled out abruptly.
– When accelerating or decelerating, when negoti-
ating bends or on inclines.
