WARNING
Inadequate Securing of
Vehicle
An unsecured or incorrectly secured vehicle can
move unintentionally or tip or fall off lifting equip-
ment such as a jack or lifting platform. This can cause
serious injuries and damage.

Raise the vehicle using a jack on a solid and flat
surface only.
e
Raise the vehicle at the prescribed jacking points
(Fig. 83, Fig. 84) on the vehicle underbody only.
e
Always place the vehicle on solid supports when
working under the vehicle.
e
Never start the engine when the vehicle is raised.
Engine vibrations can cause the vehicle to fall.
e
When working on the engine while it is running,
always apply the electric parking brake
and move
the gearshift lever into the neutral position.
