VU-ACD™/100 Maintenance Guide – Host/DOS
4.3 5ESS Provisioning
Provisioning a 5ESS data link means establishing a database of ACD entities using switch
indices obtained from the telco supplying ACD services (5ESS)
. Unlike the DMS-100 the 5ESS
does not download an existing ACD
queuing and routing structure for monitoring by the VU-ACD/100
system. Call handling scenarios are
constructed with Vectors (as required) and the VU-ACD/100 For
Windows RC/V function.
The provisioning table and associated overlays to the ACD MIS configuration database track and report
call handling activity occurring on the 5ESS switch (see Figure 4.1). The 5ESS Provisioning
Table stores the range of indices that are available to the VU-ACD/100 for configuration (refer to
Table 4.1). Basically, it identifies the ACD services purchased, stored and available on the 5ESS
switch.
Information entered by an administrator via the Maintenance Menu or RC/V screens, or derived from
probes/audits of the 5ESS switch is populated in appropriate MIS configuration database tables.
Entries in the VU-ACD/100 configuration database define the 5ESS switch resources that the
MIS will use to track calls.
5ESS and Internet ACD call handling structures are stored in the switch/server database and not on the
local ACD MIS database. When differences arise between the MIS and switch/server databases, the
VU-ACD/100 5ESS audit and probe functions help synchronize the MIS database with the 5ESS
switch engine.
4.3.1
Probe Function
The Probe function queries the 5ESS switch for each index within the ranges specified
in the 5ESS Provisioning Table. A probe determines whether any resources have been
configured in the switch that the MIS does not already contain in its configuration database.
?
Some 5ESS resource indices cannot be queried by VU-ACD/100 probe or audit functions
(refer to Table 4.9).
4.3.2
Audit Function
The Audit function verifies that resources identified in the MIS configuration database are still contained
in the 5ESS switch database. An audit removes 5ESS resource indices from
the MIS configuration
database that are no longer in the switch/server. This is a housekeeping function.
4.3.3
Node Configuration
The Maintenance Menu includes a System Hardware Configuration–Node Configuration option. For
additional information about node configuration, refer to Section 2.6.1.
4.3.3.1
5ESS
An installer can configure up to four serial ports for interface with a 5ESS Release 11 or Release 12 MIS
link from an AIU. Release 11 supports 7-digit telephone numbers; Release 12 supports 10-digit
telephone numbers. Multiple ports constitute a single node connection with automatic, redundant link
operation.
