VU-ACD™/100 Maintenance Guide – Host/DOS Preventive, Corrective & File Maintenance
3.3 File Maintenance
Data storage is not limitless on a VU-ACD/100 host. Hard disk and tape size is determined by econo-
mics as well as desired reporting periods. A hard disk/tape drive combination sized and purchased based
on initial system configuration requirements may be outgrown by planned and/or unanticipated Call
Center expansion.
VU-ACD/100 includes a number of facilities that monitor disk usage on the host and allow the adminis-
trator to manage data files. File maintenance is important because the ACD MIS will shut down if data
cannot be archived to hard disk.
The VU-ACD/100 For Windows reports facility (including the Crystal Reports report engine) generates
temporary files that must be periodically removed from the remote terminal’s hard disk to assure
uninterrupted operation. The temp files can be deleted using Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP Explorer.
3.3.1 Disk Usage – Host
The Disk Usage option under the VU-ACD/100 Data Management Menu lists the hard disk space used
for the
root
and
/u
file systems. The
root
file system contains the SCO OpenServer operating system and
generally does not grow to require additional space on the disk. The
/u
file system contains the
VU-ACD/100 database and represents the major source of disk usage. The listing indicates the total
bytes allocated for each file system, followed by bytes used and available (free). An additional column
calculates the percentage used for each file system allocation. Figure 3.1 represents a sample hard disk
usage report:
Disk Usage Report
-------------------------------------------------------
[ root ] filesystem
250 MBytes Allocated
60 MBytes Free
189 MBytes Used
76 % Used
-------------------------------------------------------
[ ACD MIS ] filesystem
1633 MBytes Allocated
1325 MBytes Free
308 MBytes Used
19 % Used
Disk Warning-Level 1:"% Used" for ACD MIS filesystem has execeeded 75%
Report Data should be removed from the disk to free up data storage space
