Use this procedure to switch between English and Japanese as the language used for the functions and messages
shown in the display and indicator display.

Turning the FOMA on/off

When you start using the FOMA terminal for the first time (or if it has been left unused for a long period), charge the
battery before use. Make sure that you use the specified AC adapter or DC adapter (optional) for charging.
● Date and time are not set when you purchase the FOMA terminal. Set them in “Set time”. → P. 45

The Stand-by display or Initial setting screen appears.
If you turn the FOMA terminal on right after attaching the battery pack or turning it off, “Wait a
minute” may appear for a while.

You are outside the FOMA service area or in a place where radio waves do not reach.
Move to a place where the radio reception level indication such as “
” appears.
The reception level for the FOMA terminal is as follows:

When the PIN1 code entry set is set to “ON”
The Enter PIN1 code screen is displayed. Enter the correct PIN1 code to display the
stand-by display.

● When “ 英語 (English)” is selected as the “Select language” setting, “ON” or “OFF” is still shown as the second-level option in “Display” in the “Clock
