The number of characters that can be scanned varies according to the type of item being scanned, as shown
below.

Guide to the scanner display
The illustration below shows how to read the information in the scanner display using Card read mode display as an example.
Guidance : Shows the current operation.
Recognition range : Shows the recognition area.
Item icon : Shows the item being scanned.
Card read mode: Name/Phone number/E-mail address/Memo.
Compose message mode: Receiver/Subject/Message
Recognized text field : Shows the scanned text.
Reading mode
: Shows the recognition mode for scanning (Kanji (lateral writing or vertical writing)/Phone number/e-mail
address/URL).
Remaining characters : Shows the number of remaining half-pitch characters that can be scanned.
NEGA/POSI mode
: Shown when “Negative fix” is selected in the “NEGA/POSI mode” setting.

TEL Up to 26 half-pitch numbers
Hash symbols (#), asterisks (
