3 C anceling
To cancel the cruise control,
briefly push lever to position 3.
W hen you step on the brake or
the ve hicle speed drops below
approx. 25 m ph (40 k m /h ), for
exam ple w hen driving upgrade,
the cruise control w ill be
canceled.
If the cruise control ca nce ls by
itself and rem ains inoperative
until the engine is restarted,
have the system checked at
your authorized M ercedes-B enz
dealer as soon as possible.
4 Resum e
If the lever is b riefly pushed to
position 4 w hen d riving at a
speed e xceeding approx.
25 mph (40 k m /h ), the vehicle
resum es the speed w hich was
set prior to the ca n ce lla tion of
the cruise control. The last
m em orized speed is canceled
w hen the key in the steering
lock is turned to position 1 or 0.
Note:
If the engine does not brake the
v e hicle s u fficie n tly w hile d riving on
a d ow ngrade, the speed you set
on the cruise control m ay be ex­
ceeded and you m ay have to step
on the brake pedal to slow dow n.
As soon as the grade eases, the
cruise co ntrolle d speed w ill again
be m aintained as long as the
brakes w ere not p re vio u sly
a pplied, or the lever m ay be used
to resum e the p re vio u sly set
speed if the brakes w ere applied.
Caution!
W hen d riving w ith the cruise
control, the tran sm issio n selector
lever m ust not be shifted to
position ” N ” as otherw ise the
e ng in e w ill overrev.
W arning!
O nly use th e c ru ise control if
th e tra ffic and w e ath er con ­
ditions m ake it advisable to
travel at a steady speed.
• T h e use o f cru ise control
can be d angerous on w in d ­
ing roads or in heavy traffic
becau se conditions do not
allow safe driving at a
steady speed.
• T h e use of cru ise control
can be d angerous on slip­
pery roads. Rapid changes
in tire adhesion can result
in w h eel spin and loss of
control.
T h e ’’R e s u m e ” function
should o n ly be op erated if the
d river is fully aw are of the
previously set speed and
w is h es to resu m e this parti­
cular p reset speed.
