A table (see fuel fille r flap) lists the
tire inflation p ressures specified
for M ercedes-B enz recom m ended
tires as w ell as for the varying
operating conditions.
Im portant!
Tire pressure ch an ge s by approx.
1.5 psi (0.1 bar) per 1 8 °F (1 0 °C )
of air tem p era ture change. Keep
this in m ind w hen ch ecking tire
p ressure inside a garage - e spe ­
cially in the w inter.
Exam ple:
If garage te m perature =
approx. + 6 8 ° F ( + 2 0 °C ) and
a m b ie n t tem perature =
approx. + 3 2 ° F (0 °C ) then the
adjusted a ir pressure = specified
a ir pressure + 3 psi ( + 0.2 bar).
Tire pressures listed for ligh t loads
are m inim um values offering high
d riving com fort.
Tire Inflation Pressure
Increased inflation pressures for
heavy loads produce favorable
h an dling ch a ra cte ristics with
ligh ter loads and are perfectly
p erm issible. The ride of the ve ­
hicle, how ever, w ill becom e
som e w h a t harder.
Tire tem perature and pressure
increase with the ve hicle speed.
T ire pressure should therefore
o nly be corrected on cold tires.
C orrect tire pressure in w arm tires
o nly if pressure has dropped be­
low the pressure listed in the table
and the respective operating
co n d itio n s are taken into
c onsideration.
An u nderinflated tire due to a slow
leak (e.g. due to a nail in the tire)
m ay cause dam age such as tread
separation, bulging etc.. R egular
tire pressure checks (in clud ing the
spare tire) at intervals of no m ore
than 14 days are therefore
e ssential.
If a tire co nsta ntly loses air, it
should be inspected for dam age.
Do not o verin flate tires.
O verinflating tire s can result
in sudden d eflation (blow out)
b ecause they are m ore likely
to beco m e punctured or
dam aged by road debris,
potholes etc.. Follow reco m ­
m ended inflation pressures.
Do not overload th e tires by
exceeding th e specified
veh icle cap acity w e ig h t (as
indicated by th e label on the
d riv er’s door latch post).
O verloading th e tires can
o verh eat them , possibly
causing a blowout.
