Close the drain cock.
★ Tightening torque: 1 N ･ m to 2 N ･ m
(0.1 kgf ･ m to 0.2 kgf ･ m)

Open the fuel cock to its original position.

After replacing the filter cartridge (4), refer to
"6.19.6 FUEL CIRCUIT AIR BLEEDING" on
page 6-99 and bleed the air.

Close the right cover.
[8] Main fuel filter cartridge replacement
WARNING
• Parts will still be hot immediately after
stopping the engine operation. Do not
proceed with fuel filter replacement
immediately, but wait for the engine to cool
until you can touch it with your bare hands.
• The engine fuel pipes are pressurised while
the engine is running. Before replacing the
filter, wait for at least 30 seconds after
stopping the engine to allow the internal
pressure to drop, then replace the filter.
• Be extremely careful of naked flames,
including cigarettes, when replacing the fuel
filter elements.
• Diesel fuel can be extremely flammable and
explosive under certain conditions.
• Do not use diesel fuel as a cleaning fluid.
• When removing fuel system parts for
maintenance (such as fuel filter
replacement), place a dedicated container
below the opening to prevent any fuel from
spilling on to the floor.
• Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately.
• Wear eye protection. The fuel system is
pressurized, and fuel may spurt out when
parts are removed.
IMPORTANT
• Genuine fuel filter cartridges feature a
special filter with high-efficiency filtering
characteristics. Always use genuine Maeda
filters for replacement.
• When inspecting and maintaining the fuel
system, pay more attention to the inclusion
of foreign matter than with conventional
products, and if deposits of rubber or other
materials are found, use fuel to thoroughly
clean it.
• Prepare a container to catch the drained oil.
• Prepare a dedicated filter wrench.

Open the right cover.
2.
Close the fuel cock (2) on the fuel prefilter (1).
3.
Use a filter wrench to rotate the fuel filter
counterclockwise to remove it. Place a rag
underneath here to prevent any fuel spilling
from inside the filter. Wipe up any spilled fuel.
4.
Clean the filter mounting face, and apply a
thin coating of fuel to the gasket surfaces on
the new fuel filter.
