[11] Battery indicator inspection
WARNING
• The battery produces combustible gas and
can be explosive. Keep naked flames away
from the battery.
• The battery fluid is a hazardous substance.
Keep it away from your eyes and skin.
Should it come into the contact with eyes or
skin, wash the affected area with plenty of
water and seek medical attention
immediately.
Check the battery condition by the colour of the
indicator (G) on the top of the battery.
The indicator shows the following:
• Green: Normal.
• Black: Charge is low. Recharge the battery.
• White: Inspect the battery exterior.

If the indicator remains black even when the
battery has been recharged, the battery is
probably life-expired and should be replaced.

If the indicator is white, check that the casing
is not damaged and there is no leakage.
Replace the battery if any damage is
discovered.
If no external damage is visible, there may be
internal damage or the damage may be
life-expired, and the battery should be
replaced.
INSPECTION AFTER
STARTING ENGINE
Check the following in this section after starting
the engine and before starting work every day:
IMPORTANT
The inspection details described in this
section must be carried out after starting the
machine.
Start the engine, and operate the travelling
and crane controls referring to "5.2.2
OPERATIONS AND CHECKS BEFORE
STARTING ENGINE" on P. 5-6.
[1] Engine starting and abnormal noise
inspection
When starting the engine, check that there is no
abnormal noise and that the engine can be easily
cranked.
Also check that there is no abnormal noise when
idling and when the engine speed is increased
slightly.
• If there is abnormal noise when starting the
engine, continuing to run the engine may cause
engine damage.

request an inspection promptly.
[2] Engine low speed and acceleration
inspection
Check that the engine speed does not fluctuate or
suddenly stop when the machine is stopped
during normal driving.
• Inspect in a safe location, paying due attention
to the surroundings.
• If the low-speed and acceleration condition is
noticeably poor, continuing to run the engine
may result in unforeseen accidents due to
engine damage, reduced driving feedback, and
reduced brake effectiveness.

[3] Engine exhaust gas colour, abnormal
noise, and vibration inspection
Check that the engine exhaust gas colour is either
transparent or slightly blue. Also check for
abnormal noises and vibrations. Repair if any
abnormality is found.
