4.4.5 Connecting the Optional Power Charger Unit
An optional power charger unit can be connected to the
µ
SDM-1 in cabinet-mounted
installations. The power charger unit provides continuous service via backup
batteries during power failures.
4.4.6 Connecting the DC Power Charger
Positive (+) wire
(Step 2a) from main power charger
Red wire (Step 3a)
to muxmain power in
Negative (-) wire (Step 2b)
from main power charger (DC1)
Negative (-) wire
from alternative power charger (DC2)

Figure 4-18 illustrates the circuit breaker and terminal block wiring for the DC
power charger option.
To connect the circuit breaker and terminal block:
1. Remove the protective cover of the circuit breaker box, located inside the
cabinet, after removing the appropriate screws.
2. Route the power charger's power cable through the appropriate opening of
the integral cabinet strain relief.
a) Connect the positive voltage wire (+) to the left terminal block on the
top side (labeled DC Source 1 on the protective cover).
