The icon can appear on the TRIB or TEX module. It indicates that the module is
active and has trails going through it.
The
µ
SDM-1 Shelf View displays the modules installed in the NE. The physical
architecture of the
µ
SDM-1 is different than that of SYNCOM NEs (SDM-1,
SDM-4 and SDM-16). The
µ
SDM-1 is not mounted in a shelf, but in an enclosure
which can not be opened in the field. It contains permanent or virtual equipment
which does not physically exist as a separate entity.
These (virtual) modules are:
Module Function
TRANSCIEVER
WEST Converts tributary signal to the SDH format, maps and adds to the
aggregate signal for transmission to other NEs (and vice versa).
TRANSCIEVER
EAST Converts tributary signals to the SDH format, maps and adds to the
aggregate signal for transmission to other NEs (and vice versa).
TRIB Tributary cards for interfacing with PDH tributary lines.
CLK (TMU) On board clock, provides NE timing.
CPU (CDB) Performs the internal NE management functions and the logical interface
with the management stations.
NVM Non-Volatile Memory card. Stores the NE software and a backup of the
NE configuration.
EXT ALARMS Provides 5 dry contact relays for connection to a wide range of external
alarm devices.
PS Power Supply.
FAN A fan cooling unit.
TEX2-42 Expansion module, provides 42 x 2 Mbit/s tributaries.
TEX34-3 Expansion module, provides 3 x 34 Mbit/s tributaries.
TEX45-3 Expansion module, provides 3 x 45 Mbit/s tributaries.
6.2 Card Internals Views
The Card Internals views are accessed from the Shelf View as follows:

Double click the module for which to display card internals.
OR
♦
Select the module, right click and select Open from the context sensitive
menu.
