Rack Installation Guidelines
When planning the rack-mounted installation, take the following guidelines into
consideration.
♦
The distance between the floor and the first (lowest) shelf in the rack must be
at least 50 mm.
♦
The distance between shelves must be at least 100 mm.
E.1 Rack Grounding Requirements
Equipment should be grounded via the mounting brackets secured to the rack’s rails.
The rack should be provisioned with central grounding screws welded to the body of
the rack. The screw must be made from copper or brass and must be unpainted.
The sides of the mounting brackets facing the rails and the equipment must be
unpainted and electrically conductive. The conductivity of the mounting brackets to
the equipment frames (sub-racks) must be verified (below 0.2
Ω
).
The grounding screw of the rack must be connected to the external grounding bar by
a 10 mm
2
(8 AWG) grounding cable. The cable should be stranded and terminated
on both sides with screw terminals. It should be planned so that it will be as short as
possible.
