Mechanical Installation

4.1 General

The mechanical installation of

SDM-1 multiplexers consists of the following:

♦

Unpacking and visual inspection

♦

Installing the strain relief holder

♦

Unit mounting

♦

Connecting and routing cables and optical fibers

4.2 Unpacking and Visual Inspection

1. Check that all the shipment cartons have been supplied sealed and

undamaged.

2. Use a short knife to open the cartons so as not to damage the internal

components.

3. Check the contents of the cartons according to the packing list attached to

each carton, A standard packing list is shown in Appendix B.

4. Check for loose parts or any visual damage to the rack, subrack and auxiliary

equipment.

5. Check the integrity of all connectors, wires and cables.
6. If any damaged or missing parts have been detected, notify the project

manager and your local Lightscape Networks representative.

CAUTION

Keep cards in their anti-static protection bags until

ready for use to prevent damage.
